In it's current form, the CCHGS started on April 1, 1974 and has been active in the county ever since then. At the present, we have a research library at 310 Oak Hill Circle in English, IN, and we operate the Proctor House in Marengo, IN. We serve the community and are supported via donations and book sales. We are a non-profit organization.
To collect and preserve the material of the local history of Crawford County Indiana; to secure and document the recollections of those who have helped build the County and its communities; to promote the study of Crawford County history; to mark historical sites; to stimulate public interest in the vital and historical facts of Crawford County’s
past and present.
